Fast page 72pin memory.

Hi, still waiting on some EDO ram in the event it probably doesn't work in my 486, wondering if anyone has some FPM they would sell me? Would like a 16meg simm if possible.

Re: What retro related thing have you done recently?

Yeah K6 stuff is pretty cheap unless it's the rarer k6+ cpus. A k6.3+ at 550/600mhz will hold it's own against the top Pentium 2's I had a k6.2+ back in the day and was very happy with it. I'd like to track down a Cyrix 5x86 as apparently these are pinnacle of socket 3, but they seem to be around $8...

Re: What retro related thing have you done recently?

Well, I've bidded on a bulk lot of 8mb EDO sticks hope fully EDO ram works on in my board? Most 72pin boards should work with EDO ram? So I should be able to swap out the 8meg stick for 2 x 8meg sticks for 16meg. I wont be running Windows so this should be enough. Also won a AMD 5x86 133mhz chip. No...

8meg of ram enough in everyones opinion for a 486dx2? or should I look at going to 16 or 32mb? I don't run windows just DOS 6.22.

Re: What retro related thing have you done recently?

No luck with WC yet haven't really looked into it any further got caught up getting the SBPRO2 working. now I just need to source some little speakers as the cheap ear buds aren't comfortable. Yep I always use and ANTI static strap for this old stuff. tend not to bother with newer stuff. I also have...

It's a Toshiba T3100e, not my video but the same laptop.

Lovely luggable but my issue with it is it has expandable memory (old 1meg standard) but the memory is proprietary, thus far impossible to find any.

WC on 486dx2 66.

Hi, having an issue getting Wing Commander 1 working on my 486dx 2 66mhz with 8MB of ram. The game starts to load and freezes at expanded memory detected. I turned off expanded memory and have the same issue. I know these games are speed sensitive. I use to play WC 1 and 2 on a 486 sx 33 with 4mb of...

Re: What retro related thing have you done recently?

FYI, received my 287fpu, and the doco above appears correct. The benchmark tools I have run report the FPU as running at 8MHZ.

Re: What retro related thing have you done recently?

From what I understand the 287 fpu is actually of little use but figured why not have the system specced out a bit.

Re: What retro related thing have you done recently?

Just picked up an AMD 287 10MHZ fpu. Hopefully it works ok with my Intel 286 12mhz cpu. I've read most 10MHZ fpus will run fine with the 12mhz cpu? anyone had any experience?
