I will create a tutorial section now though. Good idea.

Hey mwd, went past your place today on the way to pick up an Amstrad XT :D (I picked up the rusty Lyrebird 386 from you a while back)

I understand re posting individual comps in the build section, but I've got about 30-40 computers, so um, where should I list them + add pics? :D

Hah cool, did you ever get anything out of it?

I've been in the process of building this: http://pcb.vogonswiki.com/login/

Basically like the old OCAU PCDB but better/bigger. Although it isn't really ready yet and needs more work.

Here is a video and more info about it:

Looks awesome, what are you writing it in? If it's in PHP after any help? I haven't had anything to code in months :)

Cheers,
Shane.

Yeah it is in PHP. I've got the code in GitLab so it should be possible. I need to check how though as GitLab is setup for internal use only for other projects.

The Lyrebird is still on the project list - guessing it was pretty much a goner, but maybe it can be phoenixed into a different 386. Will post a build thread once it gets off the ground :D

Signed up for the vogons PCDB, does it accept entries at this stage? Didn't quite get to watch the video, but will have another look.

Yes you can add CPUs/GPUs/Computers and some basic benchmarks.

Currently only comparing benchmarks is working, there isn't like a public profile page, which is really what I want to setup next.

Also I do feel that there are some usability issues with it, basically I'm not 100% happy with it yet, although I think it is off to a very good start.

I will keep working on it when I get time and helpfully by Version 3 it will be useful.

All great ideas, as is this site.
Google Index is a must though, it will bring in people.
Will we implement any sort of grace period for the treading forums? Just worry a little about some of the Google traffic once it picks up.

Yes we may need to limit access to the trading forums based on account age or post count. Currently I think we just need to see how it goes.

Also I must manually approve the first post of any new user, which should limit spam and randoms. But again I need to see how that goes as it will probably end up taking too much time!

It does seem like the forum is getting indexed in Google and new users are signing up each day, so that is really great news. Hopefully it continues!

Will there be a logo for the site? I'm no designer, so not offering any suggestions :D but it would be cool to have something in the top left other than phpBB.

A Windows 3.11 based theme would be the go.

Could you up the posts per page count from its default 10 please, don't appear to be able to override it in the user control panel. I'm not sure what a happy medium would be for everyone but I'd say 20 at least.

Personally I'd rather scroll through a number of posts rather then jumping through heaps of pages but each to their own.

Wondering what the max photo size is for upload on the site? Trying to upload pics from my phone and it says they're too big.
